SKYVENTURE/SKYDIVE UNIVERSITY/DELAND HYBRID XP WIND TUNNEL SKILLS CAMP AND COMPETITION Where: Skyventure Orlando (SVO) When: September 7th. The very FIRST wind tunnel competition was organized by Joao Tambor and held at SkyVenture Orlando in 2001 attended by over 50 competitors. Come challenge your skills in SVO and have a good time doing it. CASH PRIZES and growing daily. We will keep you updated. Categories are: 2 WAY BASIC RELATIVE WORK. Rules for this are simple. You will be paired with an SDU Coach for the event. A random draw only, will be picked 30 minutes prior to competition. (There will be separate tunnel time to fly and warm up.) 5 Rounds at 1 minute duration Ø Round 1 - 2 randoms, as many points as you can get in 1 min Ø Round 2 - 3 randoms Ø Round 3 - 4 randoms Ø Round 4 - 5 randoms Ø Round 5 - 6 randoms Fee: $350.00/person Includes 15 minutes coaching and 5 - 1 minute rounds of competition with your coach as your partner. Prizes for first place 2 WAY ADVANCED RELATIVE WORK. This section is for the more experienced flyers and will consist of the same rules as the Basic but will include randoms and blocks. 5 rounds at 1 minute duration Fee: $100.00/person/extra time or $50.00/person/competition only. Full registration Includes 10 minutes warm-up and 5 minutes competition Prizes for first place BASIC 2 WAY FREEFLY. Rules for this are simple. You will be paired with an SDU Coach for the event. See specific round descriptions for competition requirements. Basic is defined as back and Sitfly but no head down, transitions or flips, only Backfly and Sitfly. (There will be separate tunnel time to fly and warm up.) 5 Rounds at 1 minute duration Ø 3 rounds of compulsories Ø 2 free round judged on difficulty and artistic approach. Fee: $350.00/person Includes 15 minutes coaching and 5 - 1 minute rounds of competition with your coach as your partner. Prizes for first INTERMEDIATE 2 WAY FREEFLY. Rules for this are simple. Intermediate is defined as Backfly and Sitfly excluding head down, transitions or flips, only Backfly and Sitfly competitors. 5 rounds at 1 minute duration Ø 3 rounds of compulsories Ø 2 free round judged on difficulty and artistic approach. For teams that can fly head down, without the use of a spotter, and can transition. The rounds will include combinations that require Head down flying skills. 5 Rounds at 1 minute duration Ø 3 rounds of compulsories Ø 2 free round judged on difficulty and artistic approach. Fee: $50.00/person Full registration Includes 5 minutes competition Cash prize for first place INTERMEDIATE SOLO FREEFLY. The Intermediate event consists of Belly, Backfly, and Sitfly, excluding transitions ,flips or head down. Both 1 minute rounds will be based purely on artistic flying difficulty, combinations, and crowd. 5 Rounds at 1 minute duration Ø 3 rounds of compulsories Ø 2 free round judged on difficulty and artistic approach. Fee: $50.00/person Registration Includes 5 minutes competition Cash prize for first place ADVANCED SOLO FREEFLY. This event will be based purely on artistic flying, degree of difficulty, combinations, and crowd entertainment. Deland Hybrid XP will be training, coaching, and organizing events over the following year at Skydive Deland. Skydive University will now include Freefly coaching in Deland and at both the SkyVenture-Orlando and SkyVenture-Paraclete wind tunnels. Hybrid are also a 4 way FS team which make them unique. This event is geared toward learning all Hybrid has to know about Vertical Formation Skydiving. This is a great opportunity to come and get acquainted with Skydive Deland’s newest skydiving team and also learn more about the newest discipline in skydiving. Whether you’re a beginner skydiver, an old school belly flyer, or an advanced freeflyer, this will be a great event for you to broaden your knowledge of vertical flying. The camp will start off with a seminar about the VFS dive pool, dirt diving, and how to plan and execute the whole dive pool. There will be a strong focus on basics and it will be a friendly open forum in which you can ask questions, take notes or even video tape how Hybrid trains and plans their jumps. This Seminar will take place at Skydive Deland on September 27th at 9:00 am. The seminar is free to attend and will be going on till about 12:00. Starting at 1:00 pm all Hybrid team members will be available to do 1 on 1 coach jumps. Jumps will include video, with video debrief. This will be a first come first serve basis so be sure to register with Skydive University, http://www.skydiveu.com or call 386-734-7877 or 800-891-5867 early. On Sunday September 28th Hybrid will put together groups (up to four) to start applying the information gathered from the Seminar. It is highly recommended to attend the free seminar the day before! Each group will make six jumps. Your group will be with a minimum of one Hybrid member and have video. The cost is $330. If there is interest in doing larger sequential afterwards Hybrid will be organizing for that as well for the cost of a jump ticket. VFS is in it 2nd year as an official event at US Nationals scheduled to commence in October of this year. It is catching on all over the world. In fact, following US Nationals, the first FAI sanctioned World Cup of Vertical Formation Skydiving will be held. Teams from several countries are already scheduled to attend this event and compete. Greetings all coaches, Well after one false start earlier this year I am happy to finally announce that the SDU website promised is now up and operational. Due to unfulfilled promises earlier this year the site we thought was about to be launched never was and we had to redo the complete site. You will hopefully notice this in it’s the new presentation. The most useful items on the site at this time are: the schedule, the coach database, and the online store. The site is fully secure and accepts purchases and registrations through both credit cards and PayPal. The coach database has current postings of newly revised manuals and Session guides for Level 1 as well as Level 1 Course Directors. All Skydive University Coaches can go to our site, www.skydiveu.com, go to the upper right corner and log in with your e-mail address and the temporary password 1234. Please update your file and change your password. You will probably notice that your address is q from, city q, state q, and postal code 12345. This was done to save time and get the database done as most of it was manual entry. We also did this as it was difficult to read some of the hand writing. Please take the time to update your file. You will also see the option to add a PDF resume to your file and a picture. Please be tasteful with pictures as any unprofessional files will be deactivated. For those who do not have a resume you can fill out the questionnaire following your statistical data. If you are NOT current, registration is only available for 3 months until January 30th. So if you need to renew you must do so within this time period to continue to show up on the data base. Any coaches that have done any of the Skydive University courses but have not completed the required criteria will be able to access the site for the trial period in which you should do your best to complete your requirements. Note that once you do complete your requirements, at any time, you will be activated once again. Renewals /Benefits Please update your personal profile. You will remain listed until January 31st, 2007. To renew: Ø You must have passed the course and completed all aerial requirements, or Ø You must be certified, Blue book sent in or still working on and within 2 years renewal period to be listed. Ø A renewal annual fee of $35 will be required in the future but not at present. Database map priority listings All coaches with the highest and most ratings will show up first through to Level 1 on the data base. In other words Coach Course Directors and evaluators first, Level 2 Coaches and multiple rating holders (AIC, AFFI, etc.) next and then Coach 1. Re-currency & Upgrading Those of you wanting to upgrade your ratings you can by attending either AIC (Advanced Instructors Course) or the Level 2 for FS. SDU is offering a 25% discount to all Certified SDU coaches wanting to upgrade. Check the online calendar for upcoming courses. Certified applies to those coaches who completed their logbook and sent it in. To remain in the system all Instructors and Course Directors must have upgraded to USPA/SDU Level 1.
