The coach is to launch to attain aircraft heading beside the "student." Once presented the two are to face each other and the student is to dock. Following the dock the coach is to break and move backwards and downwards (15-20 feet back, 6-10 feet down) and stop giving student signal (thumbs up) to advance down and forward to dock. Following the dock the coach is to move up and back (15-20 feet back, 6-10 feet down) and stop once again giving the signal to student to advance. The student then moves up and forward to dock. Repeat the sequence to break-off.

AFF Instructor Course

AFF Certification:

The AFF instructor course offers both Wind Tunnel AFF (TAFF) and regular AFF Instructor ratings.

Pre-requisites:

  • be 18 years old

    The USPA AFF Proficiency Card:

The AFF proficiency card is in the back of the IRM or can be downloaded from USPA’s web-site.
This card needs to be signed off in the required areas before the course starts If you are already an instructor you can skip the topics that are
    marked with a star (*).
The first thing you should do if you consider taking the course is look at the proficiency card to see what needs to be done prior to the course. It may take some time to complete the signatures on the card. The signatures will be valid for 24 months so don't worry about starting too early.

Some topics will get signed during the course by the course director. This is all marked on the card itself and is pretty much self explaining.
